Lashbrook Rings – Product shots

I did some trial product shots of rings for Lashbrook Design. It’s been awhile since I shot product. I felt a little rusty at first, but I worked through it. I missed my 4×5 and the total control I had with that. I tried to focus manually. I thought if the camera was static and the subject was static I could focus by hand. Not so much. I had to turn the autofocus back on and trust the camera. It drives me crazy that I can’t focus a blasted camera by hand. I wish they would sell split focus screens. I guess I just have to trust the camera. It did a great job. It also helped to pump up the light and stop the lens down. All in all they turned out pretty good.

Grit and Sweat – Centennial Cross Country Seniors

This year I committed to my daughter and to myself that I would shoot every X Country race and every runner on the team, if possible. I missed one race completely (in Oregan, the day after my step son’s wedding) and only got the Varsity in another race. I consider that pretty good.

Yesterday they had a tribute for the Seniors. Monday morning I came up with the bright idea to pull and finish a picture of each Senior to give to them to remember the season. Thus began 2 days of push, and push and push some more. I didn’t realize there were as many as there were. But I finished, with 20 minutes to spare. My daughter didn’t get her’s until today, but she is very patient with me.

Here’s the gallery of the final images. I can’t tell you how impressed I am with each kid on the team. It was amazing watching them run and play this year. I hope they enjoy these images and remember this experience for years to come.

Back again, again

I am still around. I can’t believe it’s been this long since I posted.

The last year has been a year of trial and transformation for me. A year ago this month my wife decided to end our marriage of 17 years. So I was thrown into a whirl of change, both emotional and physical. And just for kicks I decided to take a new job working in a different state.

Where I thought I’d have all kinds of time to dedicate to my art and photography with the kids gone half of the time, I found working and taking care of the house and trying to have a social life pretty much ate up that extra time. Now, I think I’ve got the routine down, I have some grasp on my social life and the new job is in process. Maybe now I can work what I really want to do into my life. At least I can hope.

I’m going to give it my best shot,..
